Maude Boate, Mentor, Drag Mother and Glambassador.
These are the qualities that define the Grand Dame of Australian Drag. It has been 31 years of being an extreme gender illusionist and Maude’s first incandescent, silently in the chorus performance was at the 1988 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras with her Drag mother Twisty (Pat Gently) and since then the journey has been one of glittering opulence of legendary status.
Over the years there has been recognition at award nights for her gowns, costumes &; famous foam head-pieces, show-cased everywhere from “Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical” to numerous television interviews and press releases, even the aesthetic of Priscilla was inspired “MAUDE”
Perfection, Professionalism and Proof that a great performance always ends with a Grand Finale have been Maude’s trademark. MAUDE BOATE has many momentous milestones in her life, those she credits to having been born and raised in Lismore NSW by a former Beauty Queen and a much-respected Mayor.
Maude is one of the Glambassadorial Drag Queens for the upcoming 2019 Broken Heel Festival and she is looking forward to treading the boards for the Peter Allen Festival in September 2019.
